Perspective…

Go.

I’ve been learning a lot about perspective lately.  I have been praying daily to let the Lord control my thoughts, my actions, and my emotions.  When I am walking in the Spirit, I can have His perspective on the life situations that come across my day, throwing my “perfect” schedule and plan to the wind.

When I don’t have time to read my Bible in the morning, I am learning that that is when I really need to read my Bible, and especially to take time to pray.

When I feel like I can’t handle any more {whatever} then I hear the Spirit whisper to me the words of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.”

When my children are challenging me at every turn, disobeying, throwing fits, and making me feel overwhelmed, my perspective wants to be “whose kids are these, anyways?”.  But then I remember that God has a high and holy calling for women to be mothers.  To be keepers at home.  To train their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  It’s not always easy, and it often doesn’t feel worth it {right now} but one day I will reap the harvest of the seeds I am planting now.

When unexpected challenges come and interrupt my schedule {you know…the glass that breaks into a million pieces all over the kitchen floor and requires cleaning right now; the rain that drenches us on a walk to the doctor; the parking ticket for forgetting street cleaning day} I have two choices.  I can get frustrated, stressed out, and ugly with others.  Or, I can choose to look at it with God’s perspective.  Like Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  God’s perspective is that everything is in His control and in His plan, and it is infinitely better than what I could imagine.

I desperately want to look at things from God’s perspective.  Biblical perspective.  All the time.  But I fail.  A lot.  So I just have to keep asking the Lord to keep teaching me.  To keep showing me His perspective.  Because it is so much better than my own!

Stop.
