A City Life For Me

I redesigned the "Wise Men Still Seek Him" subway art sign that I see around a lot at Christmas.  I wanted it to go in a frame on my mantle.  I thought I would share the file here for those who may want it. We waited in a very long line to meet Rapunzel and Cinderella.  It wasn’t nearly as long as the line for Elsa – so glad we don’t like the Frozen movie! While we were waiting, Elaine drew this picture for Rapunzel. Cinderella’s Slipper in the background! To meet Belle we had to go to “Enchanted Tales with Belle”.  Just the bigs came with me to do this. We started off in Maurice’s workshop and then went through the magic mirror to the day that Beast and Belle fell in love. Once inside we learned (from the talking wardrobe), that we would be part of a surprise story for Belle.  Nolan got to be Maurice shivering in the prison, and Elaine was a plate in the “Be Our Guest” song! During December we traveled through Lakeland, FL to see my friend Danielle and her family.  While we were there we took advantage of the close proximity to Disney World...yes...our kids got to experience Disney, compliments of Grandma & Grandpa as an early Christmas present.  We didn't tell them where we were going, but waited for them to guess as we entered the park gates.  Danielle joined us for the day. She is a Disney pro, and it was such a great blessing and help to have her along!  We  were able to see/do everything on our list, and the kids enjoyed the day with minimal attitude issues! Usually Christmas is exactly that for me.  Snow.  Hot chocolate.  Twinkle lights.  Tissue-paper-wrapped packages.  Gingerbread lattes.  Fresh cut Christmas tree.  This year, however, things were much different for us!  We were on the road since the day after Thanksgiving.  Everything of ours…all of our traditions, were in storage.  We had one Christmas celebration in Florida on Dec. 14th with Kenny & Becky.  No offense to Floridians, but doing a winter holiday in a hot state is about as un-Christmas as it gets in my mind!  Then we drove five days to get to Denver and arrived in freezing snowy weather.  Opposite ends of the spectrum!  Mom & Dad had just moved, and then had the trip to Florida, so when we arrived the kids got the pleasure of decorating Grandma’s tree. If you’ve been reading here long, you may remember that at last year’s Christmas Program , Elaine had a major case of the yawns and pretty much refused to sing.  I kind of breathed a sigh of relief that we weren’t going to be around for practice this year, so my kids probably weren’t going to participate in the Christmas program.  But…the kids weren’t quite ready for performance, so the program was bumped to today.  Elaine and Nolan came home from Sunday School quoting a verse and singing a song the last three weeks.  So we decided that they could participate, and Mrs. Bickel kindly agreed. To prevent a repeat of last year, we tried to practice a lot.  Nolan competes with Elaine a lot these days, so they both knew their parts really well.  We even put them to bed by seven last night so that they couldn’t stand up there and say they were tired! And yet, I was apprehensive.  Were they going to sing???  Libs is getting a cold and Ben nearly stayed ...
