A City Life For Me

June 27: Bathroom It’s not much to speak of.  It is tiny.  Every space is filled & used – right down to the shelves in the dumb waiter.  Yes – we have a dumb waiter in our shower.  But it serves the purpose! June 28: On the Shelf Lots of home canned deliciousness!  Kiwi jam, salsa {mild, medium, and hot}, strawberry jam, and applesauce. June 29: Soft Flannel rag quilt I made for Nolan.  It is Beatrix Potter to match the “nursery”. June 30: Friend Meet Mr. Bunny.  Elaine’s “best bud” – literally since day 1.  {Yes, “he” is pink.  I don’t know why he became a “Mr.” Bunny, but it stuck}.  He was a gift from a friend who visited us in the hospital.  She still sleeps with him every night.  He was lost once.  There were several hard nights while we awaited his replacement to arrive in the mail.  He doesn’t leave the house much anymore – to ensure he doesn’t get lost again.

Well…I’ve been behind on posting {and taking} my photos in June!  Here they are…though not necessarily snapped on the correct day!  And not too creative this month – I’m not really enjoying this list too much! June 17: In Your Bag new library books June 18: Something We Don’t Know About You I despise wearing tennis shoes… especially with a skirt.  I’d much rather be in stockings and pumps, or sandals.  So if you catch me in my “sneakers” as Ben calls them – mark it down.  It is a rare occurrence! June 6: Hat playing outside in the sun June 7: Drink can you tell what I’ve been drinking?  Coffee!  With cream!  We use the empty creamer cartons to make homemade blocks for the kids. June 8: Six O’Clock I don’t really like these “time” prompts.  6:00 is when my bank closes.  Pretty un-creative! June 9: Your View Today road trip to Connecticut!  He was happy…when I took this picture! June 10: Best Bit of Your Weekend Seeing our college friends, Donny & Erika Meader and letting our kids play together.  Nolan (11 months), Elaine (2.5 years), Kevin (almost 2), Cassie (6 months). June 11: Door The door to our apartment.  The house was built in 1905 and this is the original door frame.  In the glass above the door are the original house numbers, but the paint is fading and doesn’t show up well.

I decided to go ahead with June’s Photo A Day Challenge, hosted by Fat Mum Slim.  I may not finish out, as we have a busy month with church and a quick vacation for Nolan’s first birthday.  {Wow!  Is he really going to be 1!?!?!} Here’s the list: June 1: Morning Just a quiet Bay Ridge morning.  Not a creature was stirring…not even a street sweeper! June 2: Empty A very sad sight indeed! June 3: On Your Plate how about “in your bowl”?  We had hard boiled eggs for breakfast. June 4: Close Up just a random brick wall on the way home from the library June 5: Sign These signs are all over Brooklyn.  They crack me up.  Like ROFL kind of crack me up.  Because I think I’m the only one who reads them…the horns start going on our street before my kids are awake!  But when I’m driving, I don’t pay attention to these signs either.

These are the last of our May pictures!  I may take June off, but I haven’t decided yet.  It’s a fun way to journal & document the month! Day 27: Something Sweet Ben made chocolate cake to celebrate the kids and me returning to NYC.  Chocolate cake is usually reserved for birthday.  Definitely sweet! Day 28: The Weather Today Hot!  We went to the piers in Brooklyn on Memorial Day to see the ships in harbor for Fleet Week.  But it was hot!  This Spanish sailing ship has been around the world 10 times! Day 29: A Number May 29th in my planner.  Nothing special.  I was feeling uninspired. Day 30: Your Personality This looks a little strange. I can't decide how to put my personality into pictures. Day 20: Something You Can’t Live Without I think that God's Word and my relationship with Him are the only things that I can TRULY not live without, though there are many things/people that are very dear to me and I can't imagine life without them Day 21: Where You Stand "On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand..." Day 22: Pink it’s one of her favorite colors! Day 23: Technology   Couldn’t resist two pictures for this one.  Nolan loves phones…it doesn’t matter how they look! Day 24: Something New new earrings Day 25: Unusual We use cloth diapers .  I guess some people think that is really unusual. Day 26: 12 o’clock en route from Denver to Chicago, and later on home to NYC.

Day  13: Mum I am “mum” to these adorable kiddos {Betsy & Sally included}.  By the time this post is published I will be spending time with my own “mum” in Denver, Colorado at her new home! Day 14: Grass Grass was hard to come by in a rainy NYC week.  So I waited for Denver, and there I saw this little seahorse wrapped around some grass in his aquarium tank. Day 15: Love Elaine’s memory verse says it all when it comes to love: “God is love.”  There you have it. Day 16: What You’re Reading My stack of books on the nightstand.  I haven’t been making much progress lately.  But it’s a couple of devotional books and some parenting books.  Soooo excited to read Erin Davis’ new book, “Beyond Bath Time.” Day 17: Snack It’s gotta be a grandpa thing.  My Gramps always made the best popcorn.  And tonight…my dad made popcorn for Elaine.  She shared it with Betsy.  It was a great snack.
