Easy ways to incorporate role playing…

Image
Yesterday I was featured at the Imperfect Homemaker .  I shared some ideas for frugal role-playing with preschoolers.  My kids love to dress up but it can be expensive to get all of the accessories!  Go check out some frugal/free ideas to fuel the dress-up lover in your home!

Play date in the water sprinklers!     Their first big water adventure.  I was proud of Nehemiah – he even got wet!  Then he accidentally walked into a sprinkler and was instantly “frozen” and stuck standing there in the pouring water! Our good friends – Ian and Havilah, Elaine and Nolan, Elli and Judah Funny faces!

Manners

Teaching manners to Elaine and Nolan is hard enough.  Now I have these twins!  Most of the time I’m doing good just to keep enough food on their plate.  The other day at McDonald’s they each ate four chicken nuggets.  I was still getting over my shock when I turned around to find the bottom bun of my sandwich disappearing into Nehemiah’s mouth! That’s a Brooklyn Pizza all over her face.  The day is rapidly approaching when one pizza will not feed our family!

First Water Park Experience

Image
In New York City many of the public parks have water sprinklers which they turn on in the summer for the kids.  The “rule” is that after two days of 80 degrees or more, the sprinklers are turned on.  On this second hot day of the year we headed to the playground for some morning fun.  But when we arrived, the sprinklers were not running. Liberty loves the swings! Nolan’s “cool” look It wasn’t long before a Park Department lady showed up.  My kids ran over and asked her to turn on the sprinklers.  She told me that a plumber was going around to all of the park and turning the sprinklers on, and that he should arrive soon.  We returned to play, but saw the lady get a “key” and try to turn on the mechanism herself.  She couldn’t find the right spot.  We sat down and prayed.  The plumber arrived.  He couldn’t find the right spot.  We prayed again.  The lady said she called in another man who knew right where the valve was at.  However, she continued trying to locate it herse

I found this picture from a couple of weeks ago.  We went and cleaned the church carpets, and this is how we kept the twins entertained and out of trouble. Last week we were in Lewiston Maine with our friends the Kelly’s.  I “lost” Nehemiah on Sunday night prior to the service.  When I found him I saw his little head just popping up between the “big guys” as they were having choir practice.  Maybe he will be my singer! Elaine picked this bouquet of wildflowers for me.  They are the first non-dandelion flowers from my kiddos!
