Baby Shower

For the past couple of months I have been helping to plan a surprise baby shower for one of the ladies in our church.  I have been working on lots of goodies, and almost bursting to share them…but that would have spoiled the surprise.  So…since the baby shower was on Saturday, now I can spill the pictures!

Mary Cedeno's Baby Shower

Mary’s baby #3 is a girl, and we know her name will be Mia, so we were able to do some personalized things for the shower.  I had fun reverting back to my girly side and doing everything in pink and polk-a-dots!

The girls in the church donated their American Girl dolls to be used as centerpieces.  Ladies in the church crocheted booties in different colors and sizes to be used as decorations, but also to give to Mary for baby Mia.

I used some 12x12 scrapbooking paper to draw a color contrast and tie in the polk-a-dots for the table decorations.

These little dress napkins were inspired by this post on Pinterest.  The teen girls were going to help me make them, but when sick kids caused a scheduling conflict, it was Ben who stepped up and helped me finish them!  (He’s pretty good with paper crafts if you give him good instructions…don’t tell him I told you!)

The banner was Agnes’ idea, but it was so fast and easy to whip up with my Cricut!  It says “Baby Mia” with a baby buggy in the middle.  I used the New Arrival cartridge and Ashlyn’s Alphabet.

You knew there had to be cloth diapers in there somewhere…we hung some pretty pink and purple ones from a clothesline over Mary’s table!

More guest tables.  I was so happy when I found the polk-a-dot balloons!

One of the teens made this hat for Mia, so we stuck it on a doll at the dessert table.

We found confetti that said “Mia” and sprinkled it on the table.  The little candles were my own idea.  I’ll blog more about them tomorrow!

I took this idea from my friend Leah.  She used cranberries in cellophane and water at Christmas on her mantle.  I found little pacifiers, baby bottles, and diaper pins and used these decorations on the dessert table.  I forgot to take a picture until we were cleaning up…

We also handed out these Wishes for Baby cards to each guest.  We collected the filled out cards for Mary to keep as a memento of the baby shower, and also a record of the guests who attended.  I designed the card, copied from another Pinterest idea.  (If you want to borrow this, I can email the file to you).

We asked each guest to bring a children’s book instead of a card to help Mary add to her library.  As a favor for attending the shower, we handed out bookmarks.  Mary’s friend printed the book marks {which I designed} and added a lovely ribbon.  They were so pretty!

A lady in our church took more pictures of the shower.  I was involved in leading the games and sharing the devotion, so I wasn’t snapping as many pictures as normal.  You can view Debbie’s pictures here.

  2. Wow, you have some serious talent in your church ladies!! It looks amazing- all of it! Love the children's book idea. And the cellophane turned out cute!! I love the "muted" look you got...did the bubbles come?
I'm sure Mary felt very loved from all of the hard work, time, and love that went into her shower!
