Some Family Pics

I have been very negligent in my blogging lately. But it's okay - I was on vacation! We enjoyed a great visit in Colorado with my family. We spent Christmas Eve with my mom's side of the family at Grandma & Grandpa's house. It was great to see them again, and to see that Grandpa is doing much better in his recovery from knee replacement surgery. We gave Grandpa a framed verse that I had done in calligraphy. I wrote Psalm 91:1 - his favorite verse - in Hebrew and in English. He got a kick out of it, and then delved into talking about prophecy.

On Christmas Day my dad's parents came over. They drove in from Muskogee, Oklahoma, and were staying with my Uncle Tim in Boulder, Colo. We had a good visit and a great meal. It is a Godby family tradition to have fondue on Christmas Day. We had steak, shrimp, chicken, and mom made all of the fixings and sides. I was stuffed at the end!

On the 26th we hit the slopes of the Rockies for a ski day, which I have already detailed in this post. Then Kenny & Wesley headed back to the ski slopes on the 27th. They didn't last very long - it was bitter cold and they quit around 11:30. My brothers have never quit skiing early before that I can remember! Ben and Dad left the house around 2 or 3 a.m. to take a friend elk hunting in Craig (on the other side of the state). They had an eventful hunt. Everything that could go wrong did, and they ended up spending the night in order to get both elk and the snowmobile out the next day. Grandma, Aunt Jo, Aunt Robin, and Grandpa came over to our house for tea. Then Mom and I did a little shopping.

On Sunday we had lunch with the Godby side of the family at the White Fence Farm. It's a local restaurant that specializes in chicken, but everything is served family style, and they have a petting farm, and an activity barn, and shopping. It's a fun experience. Tim & Ann & family came from Boulder with Grams & Gramps, and Leah & Marlin & family came down from Wheatland, Wyoming. Dad and Ben made it from hunting just as we were being seated. After the meal we took some family pictures, and then headed back to church.

That's about it for our trip. We tied up the loose ends on Monday. The guys played Risk. I fixed the iTunes and broke the Memory Manager on the computer. We all played Ben's new Parcheesi game. We watched A&E's Horatio Hornblower (from the beginning - Ben had only seen episode 7).

It was a great visit and it ended too soon. Our flight was not overbooked this time, unfortunately, so we did not win any free tickets. We spent four hours in the Cleveland airport. We drove from Washington D.C. to home. Actually Ben drove home while I slept. And then life resumed.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!
