{One Year}
Eeeek! It’s been a year?!?
Yes. It has. A whole year with twins. We’ve had so much fun, and I can’t even {hardly} remember the rough pregnancy days or the sleepless nights of those first couple of months {well – I remember the first night}. I finally got a chance to snap a few pictures of my twinsies to celebrate one year.
Though Nehemiah took his first steps a couple of months ago, it wasn’t until April 17th that he really started walking. It was as if he just stood up and decided to walk everywhere. Liberty does a hybrid of walking and crawling – one leg up and on one knee. It is humorous to watch, but she can really move, and transport whatever toy she wants in this manner!
Both of the twins are all.about.food. Strap them into their seats and they won’t shut up until they have food in their mouths! Nehemiah is a slow-and-steady-I-eat-anything kind of guy. Liberty is…picky. Really picky. But if it’s a meal she likes (at least on that day, because her preferences changes daily it seems), she is a two-fisted eater. They can both out-eat their older siblings! Nehemiah has four top teeth and two bottom teeth. Liberty has at least two top teeth and two bottom teeth.
Nehemiah delights in making us laugh. He loves to play peek-a-boo. He loves to put a towel or shirt or anything fabric over his head and around his neck, then he pops out to laugh and smile at us! He is a total boy – cars, trucks, balls, and noises all included!
Liberty is a climber and can move up the steps pretty quickly. (She has also come down some pretty quickly – Mommy isn’t used to being on guard about steps anymore since we don’t have any at our home). Libs has warmed up to this “deputation thing” and has welcomed several people into “the club” by offering them a smile! She’s not quite as much of a stoic anymore, though she definitely still has moments!
We lovingly refer to Liberty as our “little vacuum cleaner”. She scoots around the floor finding all kinds of…tidbits – and taste testing them! I am often pulling things out of her mouth which don’t belong there! She also loves anything soft and snuggly, and can normally be found playing by the shoe basket.
These are the bloopers – Nehemiah grabbed Liberty’s bow.
These two can self-entertain and have a jolly time all by themselves. They laugh and share toys, hide, and get into trouble together all the time. They also fight over toys and pacifiers. All the time. Liberty stole a truck from Nehemiah and turned so he couldn’t take it back. Not to be defeated, Nehemiah crawled on top of Libs and bit her in the back!
In April we went for a vacation with my family in the Florida Keys. The twins enjoyed their first fish fry and ocean experience. Actually, Liberty enjoyed the ocean and swimming pool. Nehemiah hated every bit of sand and water that we tried to give him.
Then beginning on Easter we dropped all four kids off at Ben’s parents for a week of orientation with the mission board. The twins were not quite a year old, so it was hard for me to leave them, but we all survived!
They got to enjoy cake with both sides of the family, stretching the birthday celebration throughout the whole month. Liberty loved her cupcake in Florida, and then reached over to help Nehemiah eat his too. Nehemiah loved his cake in Massachusetts, throwing quite the show!
He did not like the grass under his toes!

Nehemiah weighed in at 19 pounds 11 ounces (5-10 percentile) and 29.75 inches (25 percentile). Liberty is my fat little peanut at 17 pounds 12 ounces (5-10 percentile) and 28 inches (25 percentile).
