A City Life For Me

This is the 300th post here at Random Issues.  To “celebrate” I thought I would share some random things with you…but only 30, not 300!  Here goes…and if you read it all there may be a surprise! ::1 – I come from an awesome family, I joined an awesome family, and I have a loving Heavenly Father.  Life doesn’t get any better! ::2 – The name of my blog was inspired by Shannon Trull, my roommate and friend from college.  I would always say, “you’ve got issues,” and she would say, “that’s random with a capital ‘A’”.  When I was digging for a creative blog title, Ben pulled Random Issues out of his hat! ::3 – I have been married to my best friend for 2 years, 7 months, 23 days, and 13.5 hours at the time of this post.  (Hopefully I got the math right). ::4– I have a tea cup collection.  All of my teacups are bone china from England.  When I was growing up, tea parties were a regular event with Mom, Grandma, Aunt Robin, and Aunt JoEllen.  I wa...

My mom asked me for this “recipe” recently, so I thought I would share it here on the blog with everyone.  This is a do-it-yourself vegetable & fruit wash.  First is the original recipe, and then the gallon recipe.  (Mom – it’s for you.  No math involved!)  I usually mix it in an old milk jug and keep it under the sink.  When I am washing lettuce I do half veggie wash & half water, but you could also use it full strength or in a spray bottle. Regular Recipe: 3 cups fil­tered water 3 Tbsp white dis­tilled vine­gar or apple cider vine­gar 2 Tbsp baking soda Adding a bit of lemon juice or 3-4 drops of grape­fruit seed extract can give it an extra boost! Mix ingre­di­ents together in a spray bottle. Spray it on fruits and veg­eta­bles. Rinse well with cold water. On Friday morning I flew with Elaine from New York to Memphis, TN.  Mom & Dad picked us up on their return west from their two-week road trip (it started with helping us move).  We were headed to Mountain Home, Arkansas for a family reunion on the Godby side.  Elaine hasn’t met her great grandparents yet.  Only a few of us couldn’t make it…my cousin Whitney recently left for Bulgaria with the Peace Corps…Wesley is a counselor at the Bill Rice Ranch…Aunt Ann had to take my cousin Madalyn to  a bike race. We stayed in Mom & Dad’s pop-up camper.  I’m not a huge fan of camping, but I could do it like this!  Air conditioning, electricity, and water (if the hookup had been close enough).  Grams & Gramps have a 5th wheel, and the Driskell’s stayed in Uncle Lewis’ new motor home.  It was a humid 95 degrees, and very hot!!! Elaine is at the age where she is recognizing people, and she has spent a lot of time with her grandparents lately.  She will now reach her arms out to go to Grandpa Godby.  She also enjoyed some special time with Grampa & Grandma Hamilton during our move to Brooklyn. Playing with Grandpa in Virginia Beach Elaine is pretty possessive about her paci, but she likes to play a game where she has to get it out of your mouth.  Here she is playing it with Grandpa when we went for a cool down on the Sandbridge Beach after loading the moving truck. Helping Grandma Godby pack the suitcase!
